On October 27, 2014 Ayala Consulting Corporation signed a contract with the Government of Malawi through the Ministry of Gender, Children, Disability and Social Welfare for the second phase of the Social Cash Transfer Program (SCTP) consultancy, which will last until March 2017.

The first phase started in April 2012 and one of its main activities was the review of the detailed design of the SCTP, which included the development of updated and improved operational processes. Moreover, during that phase, financial guidelines were designed and the Company co-managed KfW financial resources to implement the Program. A Management Information System (MIS) to support the operations was designed and implemented as well. As a result of this phase, the Program was able to reach approximately 40,000 beneficiary households.

Under the second phase of the consultancy, Ayala Co will commit to the task of co-managing the new funds coming from the EU and KFW due to a significant scale-up of operations that has been envisaged by Program stakeholders. The Company will also play the role of a technical secretariat to support the implementation of a comprehensive e-payment system.

Ayala Co will continue providing technical assistance to the Ministry to be able to reach 160,000 beneficiary households or over 600,000 beneficiaries by the end of 2016.
