From 19-23 August 2013, KfW Director General for Africa and the Middle East, Ms. Doris Köhn, visited Malawi to gain a better appreciation of the implementation of the KfW-funded Malawi Social Cash Transfer Program (SCTP). One of her first stops was at the Ministry of Gender, Children, and Social Welfare which included a presentation by the National Secretariat on the current status of the SCTP.
Later in the week, Ms. Köhn also visited Salima district where she paid a courtesy call to the District Commissioner before making her way to visit three households in Traditional Authority Khombedza. The next day she visited a transfer point in Kambwiri village cluster to witness the delivery of transfers to beneficiaries. Before leaving Malawi, Ms Köhn reaffirmed KfW’s continued support to the SCTP as well as her expectation on seeing the further advancement of the Program’s implementation.
