A total of 3,318 households have been successfully enrolled in the Child Grants Program Conditional Cash Transfer (CGP-CCT) pilot. All households received their first transfer in April.

An enumerator interviews a possible beneficiary.

This pilot is being run with an aim to apply a concentrated effort to the achievement of health and education objectives, specifically for improved child and maternal health and an increase in school enrolment for orphans and vulnerable children in Lesotho.

The pilot will run in six Community Councils within three Districts in Lesotho over the next two years. A total of 10 data entry officers were hired by the Ministry of Social Development to enter Enrolment data of the beneficiaries. UNICEF provided space and equipment for data entry, while Ayala Consulting provided training and daily supervision of the team.

Enumerators collect information using a cell phone application.

Following the first transfer, monitoring of compliance with health and/or education requirements set by the program begins. Compliance monitoring will be carried out by trained CCT pilot program District officers.
